Relay for Life bank night goes on

The Central Peninsula Relay for Life will hold bank night from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. today at the Soldotna Wells Fargo branch office on the Sterling Highway

Teams participating in Relay for Life are urged to attend to turn in the donations. The team T-shirts will be distributed.

Central Peninsula Relay for Life will begin Friday at 5:30 p.m. with a survivors dinner at Skyview High School. The opening ceremonies will take place at 6 p.m. at the Skyview track.

There are many activities planned throughout the night, including the lighting of the luminarias at 11 p.m. Closing ceremonies will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m.

Brain awareness walk set for Saturday

The 13th annual Brain Awareness Walk will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Kenai Central High School. Registration will be held at 10:30 a.m.

As part of the National Brain Awareness Week, the Kenai Peninsula Brain Injury Support Group is sponsoring the walk and barbecue. Sponsor sheets may be picked up at the Independent Living Center on Kalifornsky Beach Road next to Doors and Windows.

Drama camp planned

The Triumvirate Theatre will hold its Soldotna Drama Camp June 15 through July 11 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday at the Triumvirate Theatre in the Peninsula Center Mall.

This will be a four-week camp for grades three and up. The children in the camp will put on a production of the fairy tale, "Cinderella." Show dates will be July 10 and 11.

Late pick-ups and early drop-offs can be accommodated. The instructors will be Leora Olsen and Judy Shields. The producer will be Joe Rizzo. The cost is $390 (The group accepts vouchers from the Connections and Galena home-school programs.)

Day camp offered

The North Peninsula Recreation is offering a summer day camp from June 16 through Aug. 6 Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Nikiski Community Recreation Center. Youth in grades first thorough sixth may attend. Preregistration is not required. For more information, call Tammy at 776-8800.

Bereavement day camp available

Hospice of the Central Peninsula presents Camp Mend-A-Heart, a free bereavement day camp for children ages 6 to 12 years old, will be held Aug. 17, 18 and 19 at Solid Rock Bible Camp. Applications for camp are available at the hospice office. For more information, call Gail 262-0453 or e-mail

Pop Warner fundraiser continues

The Kenai Peninsula Pop Warner Football Association's online auction continues through Sunday at The event provides community members an opportunity an to bid on items.

The money will help support football registration scholarships and organizational costs.

The group also seeks donated items or services.

Football registration is open on a first-come, first-served basis.
