Jimmie L. Eacker, the 56-year-old Fairbanks man convicted of murdering a Seward woman in 1982, is scheduled for sentencing on June 23 in the Kenai Courthouse.
Eacker's sentencing was originally slated for this afternoon, but it was moved for procedural reasons. Eacker's defense team said there is nothing strategic behind the date change.
A jury convicted Eacker of first-degree murder in March at the end of a lengthy cold-case murder trial. DNA evidence brought the case back to life in 2007.
Eacker is being held at the Wildwood Correctional Complex.
