ANCHORAGE (AP) -- The state's biggest Native corporation is the winner of this year's Alaska Exporter of the Year award.
Arctic Slope Regional Corp. received the award from Gov. Tony Knowles Thursday. He also announced a trade mission to Japan and China later this year.
Arctic Slope, based in Barrow, has several subsidiaries in the export business, notably its oilfield services operations. Those subsidiaries are among the companies working to develop petroleum reserves in the Russian Far East.
Arctic Slope had revenue of more than $800 million last year, making it by far the largest of the state's 13 Native regional corporations.
The Exporter of the Year Award is sponsored by the Export Council of Alaska.
