Kenai Masonic Lodge No. 11 honors outstanding youth from area schools

Allen Russell Koerber - Kenai Alternative High School

Allen Russell Koerber came to Kenai Alternative High School with a determination to make changes in his life. Now a chapter in his life is closing and a great adventure is about to begin.

Allen hopes to attend school at the Seattle Art Institute.

He is the son of Julianne Marie Koerber of Kenai.

Remington West is an exceptional student. Rem is a brilliant mathematician, advanced reader, creative writer and computer whiz.

He is kind, compassionate and a natural leader.

He is always willing to coach, tutor and assist when other students need a hand.

Whitney Rysdyk - Aurora Borealis Charter School

 

Whitney Rysdyk - Aurora Borealis Charter School

Whitney is the daughter of Pastor John and Renee Rysdyk of Soldotna. Whitney is active in the Child Evan-gelism Fellow-ship. Her hobbies include interest in any Michigan team; music, including flute, piano and voice; scrapbooking; and photography. Whitney's future dreams include excelling as a flutist.

Siri Larson - Kenai Middle School

 

Siri Larson - Kenai Middle School

Siri Larson has various talents and interests, as well as a natural desire to learn and try new things. Siri plays the oboe, the piano and can often be found either carrying or wearing her toe shoes for ballet. She has attended Norwegian camp in Minnesota for the past five years, and she would like to be an exchange student. Siri's future plan is to become a speleologist. Siri is the daughter of Mark and Elaine Larson.

Tasha Nicolette Thompson began life on July 19, 1990. Her parents are Tuc-ker and Colette Thompson of Nikiski. She won the school spel-ling bee, basketball hoopshoot and made All-Stars in softball. She enjoys sports, math, music, friends, scholastic competitions, interesting questions, snorkeling, canoeing, wry humor, forests, oceans, reading, writing, new concepts, strange foods and good people.

Jamie Fredrickson - Seward High School

 

Jamie Fredrickson - North Star Elementary

Jamie Fred-rickson is the daughter of James and Kathy Fred-rickson of Se-ward. Her plans include leaving for a tour with the U.S. Air Force in October.

Jamie is committed to serving others. She was an example to others, hardworking, helpful and always willing to give of her time. She leads by example. She is the first one to commit her time to the benefit of others and the last one to go home when the job is finally finished.

Allie Schoessler - Soldotna Middle School

Allie Schoes-sler exemplifies a well-rounded student guided by hermorals and ethics. Allie has maintained a 4.0 grade point average, participated in Mind A-Mazes and Future Prob-lem Solving, geometry at SoHi, symphonic band, soccer and track. Executing the perfect side-kick in Karate, tending to horses at Solid Rock Bible Camp and attending youth group are some of the activities that encompass Allie's personal life.

Mara Mohler - Sterling Elementary

Mara Mohler is involved in a variety of both school and community activities. She participates in student council, conflict managers, band and choir, as well as the Boys and Girls Club, community service for the food bank, Relay for Life, the AmeriCorps Youth group and her church.

Mara lives in Sterling with her parents Eric and Paula Mohler, her sister Marci and her brother Micah.

Paige Blackburn - Soldotna Elementary

Paige Black-burn has been a dedicated students at Soldotna Elementary for seven years and is a positive leader. The daughter of Margaret Brew-ster and Keith Blackburn, Paige is caring, positive, thoughtful, always dependable and willing to stand up for what is right. She is a conflict manager, reading helper, band member and choir participant. Paige also has been active in diving, swimming, golf, basketball, baseball and soccer.

Jordan Love - Redoubt Elementary

Jordan Love is the daughter of Jimmy and Hea-ther Love. Jordan is an outstanding students because she exhibits positive leadership, attitude and re-spect for adults and students.

While at Re-doubt, Jordan has been involved in intramural sports, band, forensics and Boys and Girls Club soccer. She puts forth her best effort in all that she does.

Jordan is an all-around great student and person.

Sabrina Jo Johns - Nikiski Middle-Senior High

 

Sabrina Jo Johns - Nikiski MIddle-Senior High

Sabrina Jo Johns has lived on the Kenai Peninsula all her life with her parents JW and Anna Johns and her three siblings David, Katrina and Johanna. She was the cheerleading captain three years in a row and also participated in soccer, wrestling and softball. Sabrina plans to major in sports medicine and will attend California State University-Fresno in the fall. She also plans to continue her participation in cheerleading and softball.

Michelle Gruber - Susan B. English School

 

Michelle Gruber - Susan B. English School

Throughout her high school years, Michelle has been involved in state championship basketball, volleyball, track and choir. She has been class president and editor of the school yearbook. She volunteers as a lifeguard and at the community library. She plans to attend University of Alaska Fairbanks this fall and major in physical education and nutrition. Her parents are John and Dianne Gruber of Seldovia.

Heidi Skjold Tustumena Elementary

The staff at Tustumena Elementary chose Heidi Skjold because of her wonderful leadership skills. She leads by example, with high expectations for herself in academics and sports. She strives for perfection and has a positive attitude. Heidi has three siblings, Kjersten, Ross and Kaillee, and greatly admires her parents, Eric and Joy Skjold.

Jacque Uwekoolani Chapman School

Jacque Uwekoolani was chosen as an outstanding student for many reasons. The most important is her compassion for others. It is not unlike Jacque to drop what she is doing in class and help others. She shares her gifts unselfishly. She is an incredible artist in many mediums, a gifted academian and a devout follower of her faith. In the future, she plans to pursue a career in pediatrics or marine biology.

Evgeny L. "Evy" Olson Homer High School

Evgeny Olson was born in Anchorage and has lived in Homer since infancy.

She has been president of her high school class three years running and her other activities have included all-state choir and serving as an assistant ski coach.

Her interests include arts, travel and outdoor sports.

She is a senior at Homer High School and plans to major in art education at the University of Idaho next year.

Her parents are Shawnie and Alan Olson.
