Elderly tourist found dead on board cruise ship

ANCHORAGE (AP) A 75-year-old tourist was found dead on board the cruise ship Norwegian Wind, Alaska State Troopers said Wednesday.

Paul Maher of White Rock, British Columbia, died sometime between Monday night and Tuesday morning, troopers said.

Later that morning, a female companion found Maher dead in his bed when the ship had pulled into the Ketchikan Port.

Troopers were notified of the death about 8 a.m. Tuesday.

Maher had suffered from a variety of illnesses, including heart disease and diabetes, troopers said.
