Sterling Elementary appreciates great community commitment

Sterling Elementary is a community school. As such, we could not offer half of the wonderful learning opportunities we are able to provide were it not for the dedication, volunteering, caring and commitment of our community members themselves.

A round of thanks and acknowledgements are in order:

To Dr. Byron McCord and Mrs. Jane Fellman, R.N., our heartfelt thanks for once again (four years in a row) providing the opportunity for students to learn bike safety and handling, as well as, the opportunity to buy a brand new bicycle helmet at a great price. Also thanks to the many volunteers who came out in record numbers to help us in this our fourth annual Bike Rodeo: Anita Merkes, Dinah Mahan, Danita Stumo, David Doremire,Tomi Maddox, Jeff Wilson, Kyle Gage, Brian Hopper, Mel Bailey, Victor Gibson and AmeriCorps volunteers Krissy Mahan and Sylvana Szczesny.

To the great people at Love INC. who have provided our children with a free breakfast this year all the way up to the very last day of school and even brought some of the above mentioned folks in to help with the bike rodeo. This year through a special grant they also were able to provide 13 brand new bicycles for students as well.

Thanks to our outstanding PTA for its support and the great picnic food this year at our Field Day Picnic. Special thanks go out to Nina Clock,

Jackie Stasak, Lynn Lund, Chris Thorne, Katrina Warfield, Beth Braxling, Tina Van Lier, Amy Parham, Mary Daigle, Diane Garske and Amber Elsey-Bailey who helped out in the food preparation and serving.

And to all the other folks who "dropped by" to help out when and where you could, our heartfelt thanks as well.

Sterling is a great community and Sterling Elementary School is a great place for children to learn. Everyone have safe and wonder-filled summer.
