Posted: Tuesday, May 29, 2001

ANCHORAGE (AP) -- Searchers over the weekend found the body of a Yakutat man who disappeared last week.

David Joseph Johnson, 22, was digging clams with a companion at Monti Bay near Yakutat on Wednesday when his skiff drifted away. He tried to swim after the skiff, but drowned.

Search dogs belonging to the rescue group Seadogs located Johnson's body offshore Saturday afternoon. Alaska State Troopers said a diver retrieved the body.
