Social Security is topic at chamber meeting

Alan Heim, Alaska director of the Social Security Administration, will speak at the Soldotna Chamber of Commerce luncheon today at noon at the Riverside House in Soldotna.

TOTE to be discussed at chamber meeting

Curt Stoner of Totem Ocean Trailer Express is the guest speaker for the Kenai Chamber of Commerce luncheon Wednesday at noon at the Old Town Village Restaurant in Kenai.

WRCC to hold meeting

The Women's Resource and Crisis Center will hold its monthly board meeting at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the WRCC in Kenai. For more information, call 283-9479.

Visitors center to host archaeology program

Friday at 3 p.m., the Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center is hosting a free program featuring Bernadine Atchinson of the Kenaitze Indian Tribe. She will discuss archaeology on the Kenai River, including current research at the K'beq interpretive site in Cooper Landing.

Volcano, glacier talk planned

Ricky Gease, manager of exhibits and education at the Kenai Visitor and Cultural Center in Kenai, will discuss how glaciers and volcanoes shaped the Kenai Peninsula at 7 p.m. on Saturday at Captain Cook State Recreation Area, shelter site No. 15 in Discovery Campground.

Register a team for the Relay for Life

Team captains can still register a team for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life race against cancer scheduled for Friday and Saturday at Skyview High School. Teams can have up to eight people and will take turns on the track for 24 hours starting at 6 p.m. For more information, contact Corbi Aaronson at 262-7711 or Kathy Lopeman at 262-8114.

Kenai to sponsor a summer rec program

The summer recreation program in Kenai is scheduled to begin June 11 and end Aug. 3. Children 5 through 13 are welcome Monday through Friday.

Ninilchik River campground closed

Alaska State Parks has announced that the Ninilchik River Campground will continue to be closed until slash from the spruce bark beetle killed trees can be safely removed. For more information, call 262-5581.
