Miss Pre-Teen to crown successor

Colette St. Clair of Soldotna, the 2000 Miss Pre-Teen Hospitality, will join other 2000 winners in passing their crowns to their successors June 23 at the Alaska National Petite and Pre-Teen Pageant held in Anchorage.

She is the daughter of Marv and Janet St. Clair of Soldotna.

Merrill travels to national competition

Kara Merrill of Soldotna will travel to the America Junior Miss National Finals in Mobile, Ala. on June 27.

Merrill won the state level in January and received $3,000 in cash scholarships.

In the national competition, she and girls from other states will be judged in five categories: scholastics, interview, talent, fitness and poise.

AJM is the country's oldest and largest scholarship program for girls and has awarded more than $75 million in scholarships to high school senior girls since 1958.

She is the daughter of Scott and Sharon Merrill of Soldotna.
