ANCHORAGE (AP) -- A 17-year-old Homer boy was injured when he was run over by a pickup truck during a large weekend beach party near Anchor Point, Alaska State Troopers said.
Partygoers later torched the truck, troopers said.
Troopers and paramedics were called to the beach about 3:30 a.m. Sunday. Several hundred young people were partying and drinking, troopers said.
Witnesses told troopers the 17-year-old, who was intoxicated, jumped on the back of the truck and rode as the 30-year-old driver tried to drive it up the bluff. The boy, who wasn't identified, fell off and was run over by the truck. The driver's name was not released.
Paramedics took the boy to South Peninsula Hospital. Troopers cited him for minor consuming alcohol.
After the truck ran over the boy, angry partygoers set it ablaze, troopers said.
Many youths received citations for consuming alcohol, according to troopers.
