McFarlane to speak at Kenai Chamber

The Kenai Chamber of Commerce luncheon featuring motivational speaker Craig McFarlane will be held today at noon at Paradisos restaurant in Kenai.

Blood Bank to reopen

The Blood Bank of Alaska Kenai Peninsula Center will reopen today at 11 a.m. after its annual closure for the Kodiak Crab Festival from May 19 through Tuesday.

Meeting for patriotic musical planned

There will be an informational meeting Thursday at 4 p.m. at Peninsula Christian Center regarding its "Salute to America" musical performance to be held at the "God and Country Rally" June 7 at Kenai Central High School. Relay for Life scheduled

The 24-hour Relay for Life will be from 6 p.m. Friday to 6 p.m. Saturday at Skyview High School. Also, Friday there will be an auction at 8 p.m. and a luminary ceremony at 11 p.m. For more information about forming a team, call Corbi at 262-7711.

Cook Inlet RCAC meeting to be held

The Cook Inlet Regional Citizens Advisory Council board of directors meeting will be Friday at the Cook Inlet Aquaculture Building on Kalifornsky Beach Road in Kenai. The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. For more information or an agenda, call the Cook Inlet RCAC at 283-7222 or (800)-652-7222.

Center's summer program to begin

The Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center's summer interpretive programs will begin with Ken Waldman, Alaska's Fiddling Poet, at 3 p.m. Friday. The free programs will continue throughout June, July and August and will feature science on Mondays, art on Wednesdays and Alaska heritage on Fridays. Open house planned

Cook Inlet Keeper, Kachemak Bay Conservation Society and Alaska Marine Conservation Council will host an open house and potluck dinner Saturday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the new Kachemak Bay Conservation Center at 3734 Ben Walters Lane in Homer. Bike safety program for children offered

The Peninsula Moose Lodge will be joining forces with the Kenai Police Department, and the Parks and Rec. commissioners to provide a children's Bike Safety Rodeo Saturday. The program will run from 1 to 3 p.m. at the lodge parking located at 12853 Kenai Spur Highway in Kenai. This annual event provides bike safety training, exercises, inspections, repairs, adjustments and refreshments.

Rod and reel contributions needed

Saturday is the last day to donate surplus rods and reels to the fund being collected for peninsula youth. Refurbished equipment will be free for youth at the Kenai River Festival June 8 and 9. Contributions can be left at the KRSA office at 161 N. Binkley in Soldotna; the Boys and Girls Club at 11247 Kenai Spur Highway in Kenai and the following elementary schools: Nikiski, Kenai, Soldotna and Redoubt.
