'Thank you' seems inadequate

Posted: Thursday, May 29, 2003

Soldotna Elementary PTA has had another fun year, with so much help from the staff, parents, students, businesses and organizations in our community.

We would like to thank all the staff for their help with the activities such as Book Bingo, Fun Fest, Walk Your Child to School, Artist in Residence, Splash Into Summer, End of the Year Picnic, and much, much more.

How do we properly thank these professionals who take the time to guide our children in the proper directions, care and love them all day long, and come back day after day with smiles on their faces? Our children's futures are enlightened because of the hard work and dedication of the Soldotna Elementary Staff.

With deep sadness, the PTA says goodbye to our "Super Woman Secretary," Michelle Gabriel, who is taking a leave of absence. We wish her well on her new journey, but hope the road she travels brings her back to Soldotna Elementary next year. Michelle has been so wonderful, always willing to help, and always with a smile.

The community businesses and organizations have been extremely giving again this year! We would like to extend a thank you to all of them, including Beemun's, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Kaladi Brothers, C&C Stables, Kenai Peninsula McDonald's, Central Emergency Services, Soldotna Police Department, Kenai Peninsula Safe Kids, Sunrise Bakery, The Moose is Loose, Sundog Serigraphic, Coffee Concepts, Spenard Builders Supply, River City Books, Godfather's Pizza, Alaska Great Skate, Pizza Boys, Fred Meyer, Safeway, Gottschalks, Orca Theaters, Coca-Cola, Mykel's and Hair Force. Many of these businesses donated throughout the year, during Teacher Appreciation Week, open house, and the end-of-the-year picnic, as well as welcoming us into their stores for field trips.

Thank you to all the parents that help in and out of the classrooms. Your involvement is another example to your children that you care.

We hope everyone has a safe and fun summer!

Lauri Lingafelt, Patty Rich, Debbie Carroll and Emily Nicholson
