Football camp scores a touchdown

Posted: Friday, May 29, 2009

The first middle school football camp on the Kenai Peninsula was a tremendous success. Nearly 60 athletes participated in three weeks of practice and two jamborees. Thank you to camp coaches Sarge Truesdell, Tai Lepule, Derek Urban, Jeremy Chezik, Gerald Byrne, Barry Hartman, Zayan Aberkane, Dakota Elsey, Nathan Strieby and the several SoHi junior varsity football players who assisted in the camp.

Thank you to Gail and Aarika Price for managing camp paperwork. Thank you to Pop Warner Football for donating equipment. Thank you to Lee Young for all of your help in ensuring that Midget football is alive and well in Soldotna. Thank you to parents for getting your sons to practice and supporting them at the jamborees.

A special thank you to Cameron Wyatt and Homer Middle School. Without the participation of your kids and coaches, the camp would not have been a success.
