Safety comes first on path to bike success

Posted: Friday, May 29, 2009

The Kaleidoscope bike rodeo was a great success. The students learned a lot about bike safety from Kenai Police Officer Mitch Langseth, had helmets checked or purchased them from nurse Jane Fellman with Safe Kids and had fun learning on the course.

This event could not have been such a great event without volunteers. Special thanks go out to the following terrific contributors: Officer Langseth; nurse Fellman; the Moose Lodge volunteers (Governor Joe Stanford, Bob Monroe Sr., Nathan Van Sickle, Adreann Baker and Sadie Larson), who brought the barbecue and cooked for all the students and staff; Peterkin Distributors; Regal Foods and Three Bears, who provided the hot dogs and buns; Steve's Chevron, for the propane; Brook Carver from the Bike Shop, for doing maintenance; Kaleidoscope PTA for providing refreshments for the volunteers, as well as snacks and beverages for the students; and last but not least, I would like to thank the parent volunteers -- Terrah Amend, Marne Jensen, Tony Lewis, Gerri Litzenberger, Jan Marquis, Michelle Olson, Ronette Stanton, Sarah Palmer, Jennifer and Sam Satathite, Theresa Morse, Joan Miller, Tawny Eubank, Jessica Bookey and Will Morrow.
