The city of Kenai in partnership with the Chamber of Commerce is holding a strategic planning session for City of Kenai business owners on Wednesday, June 8th at the Kenai Senior Center. The session is designed to gather ideas and suggestions to better understand the desires and needs of the business community as Kenai updates the City's Comprehensive Plan. Business input into the plan update is vital. Registration begins at 7:45 a.m. The meeting will commence at 8 a.m. and run until 10 a.m. The business community is encouraged to participate in this important planning meeting.

The American Cancer Society Relay for Life is a life-changing event that gives everyone in communities across the globe a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease.
Relay for Life schedule of events:
Bank Night: May 31 and June 1, 5:30 p.m., Bridges in Soldotna
Survivor Dinner: June 3, 5:30 p.m., Skyview High School
Opening Ceremonies: June 3, 6:30 p.m., Skyview High School track
Luminaria Ceremony: June 3, 11 p.m.
Pancake Breakfast: June 4, 7 a.m.
Closing Ceremonies: June 4, 1:30 p.m.
Show support for Cancer Survivors!
At the Relay for Life, teams of people camp out at Skyview High School and take turns walking or running around the track. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Because cancer never sleeps, Relay for Life is an overnight event up to 24 hours in length.
Watercolor paint together planned
A Watercolor Paint Together with the Kenai Fine Art Center Watercolor Group is planned for Stuarday, June 11 from noon to 3 p.m. at the Kenai Fine Art Center, 816 Cook Avenue in Kenai across from the Oilers' Bingo Hall. Local watercolorists, 18 and older, (dabblers welcome) will be joining together to share some creative time together, socializing and sharing in a snack potluck. Bring your watercolor paraphernalia along, and a snack to share if you like.
The Peninsula Oilers Baseball Club is looking for housing for Oilers baseball players for the 2011 season. The players arrive in early June and the season ends in late July. A joint Kenai Central and Soldotna Class of 1981, 30-year reunion is scheduled to be held on the weekend of July 16 and 17. On Saturday night (July 16) at 7 p.m. there will be a, no host bar, appetizers and socializing at Kenai Landing located on Cannery Road; the cost will be $20 per person. A family picnic will be held Sunday at the Tesoro recreation site off of Bernice Lake road in Nikiski. The picnic will begin at 12:30 p.m.. This should be an enjoyable occasion, so please plan on attending; the cost will be $2 per person. The 3rd Annual Kenai Peninsula Tough Truck is at it again! Saturday, June 11 at the Twin City Raceway Circle Track, Tough Truck will be hosting its first event of the year. Gates open at 4 p.m.
All Alaska 4-by-4 enthusiasts are invited to attend the Tough Truck event and compete.
Enjoy some great, "clean" fun and enter your truck, side-by-sides, and ATVs.
