Trees for sale in Homer

Kachemak Heritage Land Trust is selling trees at Eagle Quality Center in Homer from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday to raise money for land conservation on the Kenai Peninsula.

Meditation seminar offered

Know Thyself as Soul Foundation Inc., Northwest Region, a nonprofit social service organization, is offering a free inner light and sound meditation instructional program Sunday from 1 to 4:30 p.m. in Central Peninsula General Hospital's Augustine room. It is open to the public.

Visitors center switches to summer hours

The Kenai Cultural and Visitors Center is operating under its summer hours. The center is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Summer swimming lessons offered

Registrations are being taken for summer swimming lessons at Soldotna High School. The first session begins Monday and the second starts June 18. Classes are held Monday through Friday. Each session is $40 for 10 lessons. Space is limited and preregistration is recommended. For more information, call 262-7419 or stop by the pool.

Workshop for business owners planned

The Kenai Peninsula Small Business Development Center is co-sponsoring a free workshop with Mike Taylor of the procurement technical assistance center, entitled "HUBZone" on Tuesday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Red Diamond Center, suite 16. To reserve a place, call Lou at 262-7497.

Summer clubs scheduled

The Boys and Girls Club will sponsor a soccer camp for kids ages 6 to 18 June 19-22. The club also will feature two basketball clubs Aug. 6-8 for fifth- through ninth-graders and Aug. 9-11 for seventh- through 12th-graders For more information, call the club at 283-2682.

Soldotna museum open for summer

The Soldotna Historical Society Homesteader Village and Museum is open through Sept. 17 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. The museum is on Centennial Park Road in Soldotna.

Sampling devices being collected

The Kenai Watershed Forum is collecting daily water quality samples from the Sterling Highway bridge in Soldotna throughout the summer. Boaters should be aware of the steel cables and other sampling devices. For more information, call Ole or Robert at 260-5449.
