Where: 1-mile oval at Dover (Del.) International Speedway.
When: Television coverage starts at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, race starts at 1 p.m.
Broadcast: TelevisionFX; RadioMotor Racing Network
Distance: 400 laps
2001 winner: Jeff Gordon
Notes: The 24-degree banking and concrete pavement is tough on cars and even tougher on drivers. That's why four drivers Jeff Gordon (four), Mark Martin (three), Tony Stewart (two) and Rusty Wallace (two) have combined to win 11 of the past 16 races at ''The Monster Mile.'' The raceway is narrow and there's no run-off areas. A single spin usually involves several cars because there's no way to escape trouble. The key to Dover are the exits off the second and fourth turns. A driver who is able to accelerate the quickest in the middle of the corners will have the best running start for the short runs down the straightaways.
Other races: Friday MBNA America 200 (NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series) at Dover International Speedway (ESPN, 3:30 p.m.); Saturday MBNA Platinum 200 (NASCAR Busch Series) at Dover International Speedway (FX, 12:30 p.m.), BPU 200 (ARCA Re/Max Series) at Kansas Speedway; Sunday Miller Lite 250 (CART) at The Milwaukee Mile (CBS, 12:30 p.m.).
