Suspension lifted on burning permits

Posted: Thursday, May 30, 2002

As of Wednesday morning, the Kenai-Kodiak areas of Alaska State Forestry had lifted the burning permit suspension only for piles 10 feet by 10 feet or less. Local fire departments also are allowing small permitted fires. While scattered showers have provided minimal moisture they have not penetrated into protected areas and permit holders should still not burn in windy conditions. Anyone wishing to burn must call the notification phone number on ther permit to check on the status prior to burning.
