Community businesses provide great learning experiences

Posted: Friday, May 30, 2003

I would like to take this opportunity to thank several facets of our community. Many businesses, recreational centers and individuals helped provide our classroom with a wealth of learning.

First, I would like to thank Aurora Heights Assembly of God Church and Pastor Dale and also Mount Redoubt Baptist Church and their pastors, Roy and Lee Moore. These two churches provided an excellent training site for our students. Thank you very much.

We also were able to use many different recreational facilities within this fine community. We would like to thank North Peninsula Recrea-tional Service Area for the use of its facility. We always had a spot at the pool every month. Another recreation site was Alaska Lanes, which also provided a great spot for us every month. The students always had a great time. We also were able to fit in a stop at Short Stop for a little putt-putt golf. Finally, the Kenai Recreation Center provided gym time and opened up the Teen Center for the students.

Every month we would go into the community to shop. We would like to thank Carrs for always being so friendly and helpful. Also, thanks to our local grocery store, M&M Market.

Lastly, the students' favorite part was the eating establishments we visited during our outings. The following places always provided us a great time: McDonald's, Nero's, Bear Paw, Arby's, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell. Thanks to all of you!

As you can see this community provides so much. I can't say enough about what it means to myself, Mrs. Lettington and, most of all, our students. Without all of this support our classroom and community outings wouldn't be successful. Thank you for providing us with a great community to live in.
