Kenai Peninsula Borough Budget: At A Glance

The Kenai Peninsula Borough will consider approving a $55.8 million Fiscal Year 2004 borough budget at its Tuesday meeting.

Included in that budget will be one proposed tax rate change and debt service for general obligation bonds on a new Seward Middle School and an expansion to the Central Peninsula Baling facility. Here is some of what to expect:

Proposed tax rate change:

Central Peninsula Hospital service area Increases from 0.4 to 0.5

Expenditures:

General government operations: $13,077,492

Personnel: $8,399,234

Supplies: $345,112

Services: $4,495,943

Capital Outlay: $257,345

Interdepartment charges: -$420,142

Operating transfers: $42,726,791

Special revenue fund Schools: $31,100,465

Special revenue funds Other: $4,092,514

$346,455 Kenai River Center

$26,425 Nikiski senior service area

Debt services :

School debt: $3,808,727

Solid waste debt: $855,385

Capital projects:

Schools: $2,040,000

(Includes projects planned for Tyonek, Homer High, Seward Elementary, Kenai Middle and Seldovia)

Other: $829,000

Solid waste: $529,700

General government: $300,000

(Includes KPB/KPBSD business application software upgrade)
