Sarah Ellen Teaford and Francis Paul Hanson of Anchorage were married in an evening ceremony Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, at Saint John United Methodist Church in Anchorage. Pastor David Beckett officiated.
The bride is the daughter of William and Jane Teaford of Cedar Falls, Iowa. She wore a pearl-colored, three-quarter length sleeve silk gown with a cathedral train and slight beading on the square neckline bodice. She carried a small hand-tied bouquet of cream and white roses with burgundy velvet alstomerias.
The groom is the son of Kari Mohn of Kenai and Jerry Hanson of Portland, Ore. He graduated from Kenai Central High School in 1987.
Janet Fischels Wensman of St. Cloud, Minn., was the maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Hilary Jean Forge of Springfield, Ill., Susie Morris Baker of Augusta, Ga., Lori Kell Nakanishi of Eagle River and Monica Ann Brennan of Apple Valley, Minn. They wore champagne gowns, each designed in a different style, and carried burgundy flowers.
The best man was Duke Wright Keith Hanson of Boulder, Colo., the groom's brother. The groomsmen were David Oberg of Greenwood Lake, N.Y., Rob Innes of Seattle, Dean Carignan, formerly of Kenai, and Amyn Merchant of Scarsdale, N.Y. Duke, David, Rob and Dean all attended KCHS with the groom, as did ushers Mike Kienenberger and Aaron Morse.
The honorary flower girl was Jordan Carmen Teaford, niece of the bride, who was unable to attend due to an illness. The junior groomsman was Max Allen Teaford, nephew of the bride. The bride's attendants were Donna Williams and Cindy Weckwerth. Camie Walker and Tracy Rake were candle lighters. Lee Baker and David Netishen were readers and Mike Kienenberger, Aaron Morse and Phillip Teaford were ushers.
A reception was held at the Alyeska Prince Hotel in Girdwood. The groom's grandparents, Russ and Jane Mohn of Paradise, Calif., were honored guests.
The couple honeymooned on a cruise through the Panama Canal and live in Anchorage.
