Senior health fair set to educate

The Kenai Senior Citizens Center will host a Senior Health and Fitness Day beginning at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the center. Walking, dancing, information, demonstrations and prizes are some of the planned activities. For more information, call 283-4156.

Football camp slated

Pop Warner Football will host a three-day, no-contact football camp from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday through Friday at the Mountain View Elementary School at Mile 8 of the Kenai Spur Highway.

Youth ages 7 to 14 may participate. Fundamentals in six areas of the game will be taught. Attendees will have an opportunity to play every position. The cost is $20. The fee can be waived on request. For more information, call Randy at 398-3312.

Used book sale planned

The Soldotna Public Library volunteers will host a used book sale from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. The library is accepting donations of books, magazines and puzzles in good condition.

Garage sale fundraiser scheduled

The Nikiski Senior Citizens Center will host a garage sale fundraiser from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Saturday at the center on Island Lake Road. For more information, call 776-7654.

Mental heath classes available

Central Peninsula Counseling Services offers a free weekly educational class. Each week the class will have a different topic. The first will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at its office at Lake Street in Kenai. The topic is “Surviving your adolescents: Parenting teens.”

The following weeks will feature two groups per week scheduled from noon to 2 p.m. Mondays and from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursdays. For more information, call the center at 283-7501.

Historical society fundraiser slated

The Kasilof Historical Society will host a garage sale fundraiser Friday and Saturday on Pollard Loop Road. Directional signs will be posted. Donations are being accepted and the group will pick them up. For more information and times, call Dolly at 262-2439.

Plant sale set to bloom

The Kenai Peninsula Outdoor Club will sell locally grown perennials to benefit the American Cancer Society on Friday at the Relay for Life at the Skyview High School track. For more information, call 714-4760.

Historical Society to meet

The Soldotna Historical Society will meet at 9 a.m. Saturday at the the main museum building in Centennial Park Road. It is open to the public.

Volunteers are needed to assist at the museum. Greeting visitors, setting up displays and watering the wildflower garden are some of the required duties.
