LeRoy W. Chaffin

Longtime Alaskan and Kenai resident LeRoy W. Chaffin died Tuesday, May 27, 2008, at Central Peninsula Hospital in Soldotna. He was 75.

A private family service will be held.

Mr. Chaffin was born May 18, 1933, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He moved to Alaska in 1952 for a short time and then served in the U.S. Navy. He returned to Alaska in 1956. He worked for the civil service as a meat cutter.

"He enjoyed hunting and putting up fish," his family said.

Mr. Chaffin was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and sister.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Adeline Chaffin; daughters, Debra, Sandra and Tina Chaffin; son, Kenneth Chaffin; several grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be sent to the American Cancer Society Anchorage Office, 3851 Piper St., Ste. U240, Anchorage, AK 99508 or the American Kidney Foundation, 30 E. 33rd St., New York, NY, 10016.

Arrangements were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel.
