FAIRBANKS (AP) -- A North Pole teen-ager died after the truck she was riding in crossed the Richardson Highway and was hit by another truck, Alaska State Troopers said.

Kryston Stewart, 15, was a passenger Saturday afternoon in the truck driven by her 18-year-old sister, Diana, when it crossed the highway at Laurance Road in front of another pickup heading toward Eielson Air Force Base, said Sgt. Kevin Kemp. Kryston Stewart died of head injuries.

The Stewart truck had crossed the northbound lanes and was attempting to cross the southbound lanes and continue driving on Laurance when the accident occurred, Kemp said.

Alcohol was not a factor.

''(Stewart) didn't see the southbound vehicle for whatever reason,'' Kemp said.

Diana Stewart and the people in the other pickup truck, driven by 23-year-old Daniel Means of Eielson, were treated for minor injuries. Means' wife, Amy, and their three children, ages 1, 3 and 5, were passengers in the other truck.
