Visitor center to present summer art program

Marty Hapeman of Frontier Frame Gallery will discuss how to properly frame original paintings, photographs and prints for long-term care at a presentation at the Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center today at 3 p.m.

Inline hockey league starts today

Small business center to hold computer workshop

The Small Business Development Center is sponsoring a workshop about professional Web sites given by David Edward Smith of Borealis Designs on Thursday. It runs from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Economic Development District, Mile 14.5 of the Kenai Spur Highway.

Topics will include target marketing, defining goals, browser capability and search engine placement. The workshop is free. For reservations, call 283-3335.

Brain Awareness Walk set for Saturday

The fourth annual Brain Awareness Walk will be held Saturday in Kenai. Beginning at 11 a.m. at Kenai Central High School, the walk goes through town and ends at the park strip near the community garden. The walk will be followed by a barbecue. Tour of historic Kasilof cabin scheduled

Catherine Cassidy of the Kasilof Historic Society will lead a guided tour of the Victor Holm cabin Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to noon. The cost is $10 per person and $20 for a family. Swimmers, divers to hold garage sale

The Kenai Central High School swim and dive team will hold a garage sale Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 204 Norman St. in Kenai. The money earned will be used to complete the electronic scoreboard at the pool. For more information, call 283-8008.

Summer reading program begins Saturday

The Soldotna Public Library is sponsoring a summer reading program titled "Take a Library Safari." The free program is open to readers in kindergarten through sixth grade and runs from Saturday through July 22.

Preschoolers and nonreaders are encouraged to join the companion "Read to Me" club that starts June 7.

Swimming lessons available

The Soldotna High School swimming pool is now taking registration for its summer swimming lessons. Classes are held Monday through Friday and cost $30 for a set of 10 lessons.
