More than 80 graduates received their diplomas May 2 as Kenai Peninsula College observed its 30th commencement at Kenai Central High School Auditorium.

Kenai Peninsula Borough School District Superintendent Donna Peterson was the keynote speaker. University of Alaska Anchorage Chancellor Edward Lee Gorsuch also addressed the graduates and their guests. Joining Gorsuch to present diplomas, certificates and degrees were KPC Director Ginger Steffy, University Board of Regents member Brian Rogers, and KPC council members Peter Larson and Lisa Parker.

Fifty-nine students received two-year associate degrees and one-year certificates in the areas of the arts, accounting, computer electronics, human services, industrial process instrumentation, office management and technology, petroleum technology, small business administration, small business management and welding.

Twenty-seven students were recognized for earning bachelor degrees from the University of Alaska Anchorage. These peninsula-area students began their college education at KPC, where they completed most of their degree requirements before transferring to UAA where the degree officially was conferred on May 7. Four students were recognized for earning a master of education degree.
