Valedictorians from around the peninsula

Ana Chartier

Susan B. English School in Seldovia

Ana is a senior at the school in Seldovia. She is the valedictorian of her class with a solid A average. She was a starter on the girls' state runner-up basketball team and co-editor of the school annual. She plans to attend Brown University in the fall. Ana also recived the Masonic outstanding student award for her school. Her parents are David and Alix Chartier.

Melissa Gibson

Homer Flex School

Melissa moved to Homer a year ago from Oregon. She used to work at Subway but now spends her extracurricular time caring for her infant daughter, Maranda. She plans to attend the University of Alaska on scholarship either next fall or when her daughter is older. She is interested in a career in the legal field. Her parents are Rhonda and Richard Gibson from Anchor Point.

Marfa Ivanovna Martushev

Voznesenka School

Marfa was born to Ivan and Anna Martushev on July 4, 1982. She started school in Nikolaevsk. In the fourth grade year she and her family moved to the McNeil Canyon area. Then they moved to Voznesenka, where she started sixth grade and is now graduating at the top of her class.
