Eight Homer High grads share valedictory honors

Jasmine Fry

Jasmine is active in numerous academic, athletic and community activities. She works as a peer advisor, coaches children's sports and is a student council officer. She spent her junior year as an exchange student in Chile and has been on the varsity teams for soccer, cross country running and skiing. Her awards include a National Merit Scholarship, a scholastic achievement award from the U.S. Marine Corps and a scholar-athlete award from the U.S. Army Reserve. She plans to attend Oregon State University to pursue Spanish, environmental science, marine biology, international studies and teaching. Jasmine also received the Masonic outstanding student award for Homer High School. Her parents are Bill and Dorothy Fry.

Alice Hilde Velsko

Alice is a musician, making all-state band and the state solo and ensemble band convention three years running plus touring Europe with the Sound of America National Honor Band last summer. She was a varsity cheerleader for basketball and a sprinter for track. She plans to attend the University of Alaska Fairbanks to major in biology, with the possibility of transferring to Pacific Lutheran University. Her parents are Peter and Elaine Velsko.

Homer High's other valedictorians were Nathaniel Robert Brooks, James Bo Calhoun, Kelsey Lynn Christian, Alexis Brianna Hansen, Kelly Mari Leal and Sydney Lynn Schoepke. No other information was available about them.
