Reunion concert planned Saturday

The Kenai Central High School choir reunion concert will be Saturday at 8 p.m. in the KCHS auditorium.

Every person who has sung in the choir one semester or more from 1971 to the present is invited to sing at the reunion. Rehearsals are Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 10 to noon and from 4 to 6 p.m. The picnic will be Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. To register, come to rehearsals or send a letter to: KCHS Choir Reunion 1971-2001, Box 2021, Kenai AK 99611 or call 283-8364. The remaining members of the community who won't be on stage singing are invited to this free summer concert.

The choir reunion has been organized by alumni to honor KCHS music teacher Renee Henderson.

Kenai Fine Arts Center accepting artwork

The Kenai Fine Arts Center is accepting artwork and handmade crafts from area artists for the summer sales gallery from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. from Monday to Saturday.

Artists who cannot bring their items in during the scheduled time should call 283-7040 to make an appointment.

The gallery will be open to the public beginning Monday through Aug. 31 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays.

Drama camp coming to the peninsula

The Alaska Children's Institute for the Performing Arts, a fun and exciting drama camp for grades three through 12, will be available for the first time this summer to students in Kenai and Sterling.

The sessions will be Monday through June 12. Cost of the camp is $99 per student. Students in each camp will put on productions of a stage adaptation of Frances Hodgson Burnett's "A Little Princess."

The institute is a nonprofit organization promoting performing arts opportunities for Alaska communities. It offers two-week camps that teach children and their adult sponsors all aspects of putting on a theatrical production.

Rehearsal planned for Sunday

The Kenai Peninsula Orchestra will have a read-through rehearsal for the Summer String Festival Gala concert Sunday. The rehearsal will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Ninilchik Fairgrounds. For more information, contact Laura at 235-6318.
