Clarion's Scramblr Contest Wildly Popular!

Posted: Tuesday, May 31, 2005

Over 10,000 entries have been received in the Peninsula Clarion's recent word contest called the "Scramblr". Vying for the chance to win the daily prize of $15 or the Grand Prize jackpot of $500, local residents have been flocking to the Peninsula Clarion with their entries in hand over the past several weeks. The contest offered a twist to the traditional word-finds or crossword puzzles offered, with a special puzzle each week featuring words that are unique to the Kenai Peninsula area. One week, the topic featured local area homesteaders, another had folks searching out common fishing hot spots or mountain ranges and rivers.

Daily Scramber puzzles, along with the $15 daily prize winner's name were found in the new Clarion Classifieds Section, which are well worth a look just for the ever-changing landscape photo on the front page. All valid entries in the Scramber contest are eligible for the Grand Prize of $500. The Clarion will hold this random draw selection during the North Peninsula's Family Fun in the Midnight Sun festivities on Saturday, June 18th at the Nikiski Pool Facilities. The winner need not be present to win, however the day is traditionally a fun event so the public is encouraged to attend. The Clarion will notify the lucky winner, and you can watch for their name and photo in a future edition of the Dispatch.
