Lifeguard training, swim lessons available

The Skyview High School pool will offer American Red Cross lifeguard training from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today through Friday. Upon completion, participants will earn certificates in lifeguard training, first aid and CPR for the professional rescuer. The pool also is taking registration for its summer swim season. It is offering four sessions: session one — Monday 17; session two — June 20 through July 1; session three — July 11 through 22; and session four — July 25 through Aug. 5. Swim lessons available

Kenai Central High School pool will hold five group learn to swim lessons. Session dates are as follows: Session one — today through June 10; session two — June 13-24; session three; June 27-July 8 (closed July 4); session four — July 11-22; and session five — July 25-Aug. 5. Relay for Life bank nights set

Relay For Life bank nights are from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at Wells Fargo in Soldotna. Donations that have been collected from either team's participants or for luminaria sales should be deposited then. Team and individual winners will be determined from the money turned. Teams are asked to bring a list of sizes. For more information about teams, call Sylvia at 262-7581 or Penny at 260-8031. Team packets also are available for pick-up at Stewart Title in Soldotna. Brain injury awareness walk set

The ninth annual Brain Awareness Walk and barbecue will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Kenai Central High School. Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. The walk begins at KCHS and will follow the bike path into Kenai and end at the Steve Shearer Memorial Soft Ball Park. The barbecue will follow, open to walkers and the public.

Walk packets and sponsor sheets are available at the Independent Living Center on Kalifornsky Beach Road or from Bridges in Soldotna by the David Douthit Veterans Memorial Bridge.

Volunteers are needed to help make potato salad at 10 a.m. June 3 at the Kenai Elks Lodge. For more information, call Richard or Mary Warrington at 283-5711.

Aging brain seminar scheduled

Frontier Community Services and the Alaska Geriatric Education Center will host Dr. Ron Lucchino from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday at the Kenai River Center. Hearing, vision screening available

The Frontier Community Services Early Intervention will offer a free hearing and vision screening clinic from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 20 at it office. Children ages birth to 3 years are eligible to participate. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call 262-3144, ext. 227.
