SoHi pool offering swim lessons

The Soldotna High School pool is offering registration for its summer swimming lessons from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Swim lessons are 10, 40-minute lessons for levels two through five and 10, 30-minute lessons for level one. The cost is $40 for group lessons or $10 per hour for private lessons.

Session one begins today (nine lessons); session two begins June 14; session three begins June 28; session four begins July 12; and session five begins July 26.

Baseball competition planned

The North Peninsula Recreation Service Area will hold its annual co-ed Pepsi Pitch-Hit-Run competition Wednesday at the Nikiski pool fields. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. Children ages 7 to 14 are eligible to participate. The competition allows children to showcase their pitching, hitting and running abilities. Entry forms are available at the Nikiski pool. There is no fee. For more information, call 776-8800.

Seward ranger district plan trail celebrations

The Seward Ranger District has planned several events to coincide with National Trails Day on Saturday.

Kids Day Fun From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Primrose Campground at Mile 18 of the Seward Highway, there will be nature crafts and a fun un-nature hike. Participants are asked to bring a sandwich and water. The SRD will provided supplies and guidance.

Work Project on Resurrection Pass. The public is invited Saturday to join members of the Arctic Bicycle Club's Touring Division, Peninsula Bike Club and other volunteers to help maintain drainage structures on the first three miles of the Resurrection Trail. Participants will meet at 10 a.m. at the trail head and are asked to bring work gloves, eye protection, work boots and a sack lunch. The SRD will provided supervision, tools, hardhats, sports drinks and snacks. Campsites will be provided at the Russian River Campground on June 4 and 5 for out-of-town participants. Nikiski Seniors Service Area to meet

The Nikiski Senior Service Area board will hold its monthly meeting at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at the center. The public is invited to attend. For more information, call 776-7654.

Basketball camps slated

The Winning With Christ Sports Camps will host a series of basketball camps in June at the Soldotna Bible Chapel.

The cost is $75. Applications are available at the Soldotna Bible Chapel or a half hour before the session begins on the day of camp. For more information, call Rob Dimick at 262-5095.

Camp times and dates are:

Monday through June 12 Children in grades one through three from 9 to 11:30 a.m. and grades four through six from noon to 2:30 p.m.

June 14 through 17 Children in grades four through six from 9 to 11:30 a.m. and grades seven through 10 from noon to 2:30 p.m.
