Hazel 'Ruth' Rember

Longtime Kenai resident Hazel “Ruth” Rember died Saturday, May 27, 2006, at Heritage Place in Soldotna. She was 88.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Rember was born June 22, 1917, in Hailey, Idaho, to Harold and Ruth Schaefer.

She married her high school sweetheart, Dick Rember in the 1930s. Together they had three boys, Richard, Bill and Larry.

They moved to Anchorage in 1966 and then to Kenai in 1967. The couple managed the Casino Bar until retiring in the late 1980s. Besides being a housewife and raising her three boys, she loved to crochet dolls and waltz.

“Ruth would do anything for anybody. She was always a thoughtful person,” said Larry.

Mrs. Rember was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years; and sons, Richard and Bill.

She is survived by son, Larry Rember of Kenai; and numerous grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations may be sent to Heritage Place, 232 Rockwell Ave., Soldotna, AK 99669.

Arrangements were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel in Kenai.
