Mission fundraiser continues

The Peninsula Grace Brethren youth group’s garage sale to raise funds to go to Momentum Youth Conference in Mississippi wraps up today from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Mile 19.5 of Kalifornsky Beach Road.

Church garage sale set to begin

Inlet Faith Assembly will hold a garage sale from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and Saturday at McGahan Avenue in Nikiski. For more information, call 776-8723.

Pastor Dockery farewell set

Pastor Cameron Dockery, minister at the Birch Ridge Community Church for 14 years, is moving out of state. A farewell party will be held in his honor at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Soldotna Senior Citizens Center at 197 W. Park Ave. A service will be held at 11 a.m. and a potluck at 12:30 p.m. Dessert, coffee and punch will be served at the party. For more information, call Kim Coreson at 262-4433.

Congregation says goodbye to Walters

The United Methodist Church of the New Covenant will hold a farewell reception for the Rev. Jon Walters and his family. After seven years with the church, he is moving to Indiana. The reception will be held from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the downstairs fellowship hall at the church on Frontage Road. For more information, call Pat Robinson at 252-5244.

Missionary to speak

Jackie Talent, missionary to children in South Asia, will speak at 5 p.m. Sunday at the Nikiski Hew Hope Christian Fellowship at Mile 23 of the Kenai Spur Highway. For more information, call 776-3463.

Vacation Bible schools slated

The following area churches will host vacation Bible school:

· Star of the North Lutheran Church will hold vacation Bible school for children ages preschool through junior high will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through June 9 at the church at 216 N. Forest Drive in Kenai. The theme will be “The Quest for Truth: Jesus the Truth, the Way, the Life.” For more information, call DeeAnn Steffensen at 283-9224.

· Soldotna Bible Chapel will hold its vacation Bible school from 9 a.m. to noon for children ages 4 through grade six. For more information, call 262-4865 or Natalie at 394-1268.

· College Heights Baptist Church vacation Bible school will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday through June 8 for kids ages 4 through grade six. The theme is “Game Day Central.” Bible stories, games and crafts are some of the planned activities. For more information or a ride, call 262-3220.

· Sterling United Pentecostal Church’s vacation Bible school will be held from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. June 11 through 15 on Entrada Drive off Swanson River Road in Sterling. On June 16 at 11 a.m. a picnic and presentation will be held. Children ages 5 to 12 may attend. The theme will be “Avalanche Ranch.” For more information or to arrange a ride, call 262-9198.

· First Baptist Church of Kenai vacation Bible school’s theme will be “Game Day Central.” Games, snacks and Bible activities are planned. It will be held from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. from June 11 through 15 for children age 3 through grade six. For more information, call 283-7672

· The Nikiski Church of Christ’s vacation Bible school will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. June 12 through 14 at the church at Mile 24.5 Kenai Spur Highway. On June 14 there will be an a family lunch at 12:30 p.m. For a ride or more information, call 776-5354 or 776-8970.

Annual Wings of Eagles conference set

The Kalifonsky Christian Center will hold its annual “On the Wings of Eagles “ conference at 10”30 a.m. and 7 p.m. June 10 through 17 at the church at Mile 17 of Kalifornsky Beach Road. Presbytery will be held June 14. Speakers from England, Wales, Argentina, New Zealand and the United States will attend. For more information, call 283-9452.
