ANCHORAGE (AP) -- Alaska Pacific University has received a $280,000 donation to offer a concentration in Marine Biology and Policy from the At-Sea Processors Association.

The gift will establish the Pollock Conservation Cooperative Fund at APU and will also strengthen the Pacific Rim Fisheries Program at university's Institute of the North.

The donation makes possible the hiring of two new teachers and will be used to support research by the Marine Biology faculty and their students.

A significant portion of the gift will also provide scholarships for Alaska Natives who enroll in the program.
