ANCHORAGE (AP) -- Anchorage police arrested a man and charged him with the fatal shooting of another man in the Spenard neighborhood of Anchorage.
Police arrested Mickey Otis Richardson, 34, of Anchorage. He was arraigned Friday on charges of first-degree murder and third-degree misconduct involving weapons and tampering with physical evidence.
Richardson is a suspect in the shooting of Quincy Anderson in his Spenard apartment at about 5 a.m. Thursday morning.
Witnesses heard gunshots and watched Anderson stagger outside the apartment where he collapsed. He was later pronounced dead at Alaska Native Medical Center.
According to court documents, Richardson told police he was angry at Anderson and went to the apartment to beat him up. Once there, Richardson pulled out a pistol to get Anderson to drop a broom he was using to fend him off.
Richardson said he later shot Anderson because Anderson had a gun and was turning it on him, documents said.
Police found .380-and .40-caliber shell casings in the apartment.
