Soldotna resident Charlie David Weeks Jr., died Thursday, May 30, 2002, in Dutch Harbor. He was 49.
A celebration of his life was conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Soldotna Creek Park.
Mr. Weeks was born Oct. 7, 1952, in Valdosta, Ga. He received a bachelor of science degree in biology, specializing in fisheries, and he served in the U.S. Navy as a Navy Seal.
Mr. Weeks moved to Alaska in 1998, living in Soldotna and working for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. He was an avid outdoorsman and family man.
"He was a tough man in many ways, but I couldn't ask for a better husband, father and provider and he will be greatly missed by all," his wife said.
Mr. Weeks is survived by his wife, Cindy, of Soldotna; two daughters, Ivy and Jessica Weeks; son, Ivan Weeks; mother, Laverne Weeks; nephew, Chris May; and three sisters.
Memorials may be made to his family or the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank or a tree can be planted in his honor at Soldotna Creek.
Arrangements were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel.
