Wagoner to speak at Soldotna chamber

Sen. Tom Wagoner will give a legislative update at the Soldotna Chamber of Commerce's weekly luncheon meeting at noon Tuesday at the Riverside House. The meeting is open to the public. For more information, call the chamber at 262-9814.

Cooper Landing chamber to meet

The Cooper Landing Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau will hold its monthly meeting at noon Tuesday at the Sunrise Inn, Mile 45 of the Sterling Highway. KDLL board meets Tuesday

KDLL's board of directors will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the KDLL studio in the Economic Development District building three miles north of Kenai. The meeting is open to the public.

Williams to give state of Kenai address

Kenai Mayor John Williams will deliver his state of the city address before the Kenai Chamber of Commerce at its noon luncheon meeting Wednesday at Paradisos Restaurant. The luncheon costs $10.50 and is open to the public. For more information, call 283-7989.

Historical society board to meet

The Soldotna Historical Society board of directors will meet at 9 a.m. Saturday at the museum building on Centennial Road in Soldotna. The meeting is open to the public. For more information, call 262-4157.

Space available at Kenai Community Gardens

Several open garden sites are available at the Kenai Community Gardens. Anyone interested in a gardening plot this year can call Janice at Cooperative Extension Services at 262-5824.

Social security rep to visit peninsula

A representative from the Social Security Administration will be at the Seward City Council Chambers from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 17, at Kenai City Hall from noon to 4 p.m. June 18 and at the Homer Senior Citizens Center from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 19. Boys and Girls Club plans girls basketball camp

The Boys and Girls Club will sponsor Gym Rats Basketball Camp with Molly Tuter this summer.

The camp will run Aug. 4 to 6 and is open to girls in grades three through 12. Girls in grades three through six will meet from 9 a.m. to noon at the Kenai Boys and Girls Club. Seventh- and eighth-graders will meet from 1 to 4 p.m. at Kenai Middle School. Ninth- through 12th-graders will meet from 5 to 8 p.m. at Kenai Middle School.

The cost is $50 for participants in third through sixth grade, and $75 for older students. Limited scholarships are available. Participants must register on or before July 11 at the Kenai Boys and Girls Club and must be club members.

Cooper Landing Gun Club to host women's clinic

The National Rifle Association's Women on Target program will sponsor an instructional shooting clinic for women at the Cooper Landing Gun Club at 6 p.m. July 18 and and at 9 a.m. July 19. All necessary equipment will be provided by the club. The cost of attendance, which includes firearms, ammunition and targets, is $35. Participants must bring eye and ear protection.

Donations, volunteers needed for golf classic

Donations and volunteers are needed for the third annual Johnny Monfor Head Start Golf Classic. Money raised from the golf tournament will help provide children with a better start in their school achievement. Donations are tax deductible. The Classic will be July 26 at the Kenai Golf Course.
