Relay for Life today
Relay for Life of the Central Peninsula will host its annual cancer awareness walk today and Saturday at the Skyview High School track.
A ceremony to honor cancer survivors will begin at 6 p.m. Friday.
Plant sale set to bloom
The Kenai Peninsula Outdoor Club will sell locally grown perennials to benefit the American Cancer Society on Friday at the Relay for Life at the Skyview High School track. For more information, call 714-4760.
Brain awareness walk set to take off
The 10th annual Brain Awareness Walk and barbecue will be held Saturday in Kenai. For more information and time of walk, call Mary at 283-5711.
Historical Society to meet
The Soldotna Historical Society will meet at 9 a.m. Saturday at the the main museum building on Centennial Park Road. It is open to the public.
Volunteers are needed to assist at the museum. Greeting visitors, setting up displays and watering the wildflower garden are some of the required duties. For more information, call 262-8852.
Dog jog slated
Twin Cities Veterinary Clinic will host its third annual three-mile dog jog or walk at 2 p.m. Sunday at the clinic. The cost is a $20 donation for either event. Participants will receive a bandana for their pet. Lunch will be provided.
T-shirts cost $15. Prizes will be awarded to top finishers in the run in the men’s and women’s divisions. Proceeds benefit the clinic’s Angel Fund for sick and injured pets. For more information, rules or to register, call 262-4581.

Pandemic flu seminar slated
The Alaska Department of Public Health and Social Services, in conjunction with the city of Kenai and the Kenai Peninsula Borough Office of Emergency Management, will sponsor a free community pandemic flu seminar June 12 through 14 in Kenai.
The state will fund travel and lodging for those living more than 50 miles from Kenai.
