Pair of Stars named to all-Northern Lights Conference first team

Two members of the Soldotna High School softball team were named to the all-Northern Lights Conference team.

Pitcher and shortstop Vanessa Cleveland, and outfielder-infielder-catcher Annie Gardner were named to the first team. Outfielder-infielder Jess Jezeroski was named to the second team.

The Stars finished third in the NLC with a 4-8 record behind Homer (11-1) and Kodiak (9-3). Seward was fourth at 0-12.

First team — Kailee Pollack, catcher, Homer; Kayla Creamer, shortstop, Homer; Nyssa Baechler, pitcher, Homer; Brittney VanSandt, third base, Homer; Lauren Bell, second base, Homer; Caitlin Ball, third base, Kodiak; Chelsea Fillburn, catcher, Kodiak; Vanessa Cleveland, pitcher/shortstop, Soldotna; Annie Gardner, center field/shortstop/catcher, Soldotna; Stephanie Fleetwood, pitcher/first base, Seward.

Second team — Tianna Allen, pitcher, Kodiak; Elly Cornelius, center field, Kodiak; Lindsay Von Borstel, shortstop/first base, Seward; Diana Hill, catcher/pitcher, Seward; Jess Jezeroski, right field/infield, Soldotna.
