River run on the horizon

The annual Run for the River, family 5K walk/run and 10 miler on a multiple-turn, loop course to benefit the Kenai River and the Kenai River Festival will be held June 13 at Soldotna Creek Park in downtown Soldotna. Registration and warm-up is at 8 a.m. The race starts at 8:30 a.m. for the 10 Miler and 9 a.m. for the 5K.

Participants may register at the Kenai Watershed Forum office in the Blazy Mall or online at Active.com. Registration includes a T-shirt. The cost will be adult preregistration $15, adult day of race is $25, under 18 preregistration is $10, under 18day of race is $20 and 6 and under are free.

Catfish fry fundraiser planned

The Sterling Senior Center will hold a catfish and halibut fry from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the center. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children 10 years old and younger.

Garage sale fundraiser slated

Kasilof Community Church will host its 11th annual missions yard sale from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 10 through 13 at the church on the corner of the Sterling Highway and Kalifornsky Beach in Kasilof. Proceeds will benefit the church youth group and support missionaries in other countries. For more information, call 262-7512.
