JUNEAU (AP) -- The Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute will be looking for a new executive director.
Barbara Belknap announced Monday she is stepping down from the job she held for five years.
''Five years is the longest any ASMI Director has served,'' Belknap said in her resignation letter. ''This summer seems like the right time for me to take a break and let someone new take over the helm.''
Belknap began her career with ASMI 12 years ago. As director, she was responsible for domestic and overseas marketing programs for all species of Alaska seafood. She directed a staff of 17 and a budget of $10 million.
The resignation takes effect Aug. 1.
Sandro Lane, ASMI board chairman, said an executive committee would begin the search for a new director immediately.
