Longtime Seward resident Doris Jean (March) Welch died Tuesday, May 29, 2007, near Cooper Landing. She was 66.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, June 4, 2007, at the Church of the Nazarene, 809 Fourth Ave. in Seward. Pastor Blair Rorabaugh will officiate.
Ms. Welch was born April 15, 1941, to Edgar T. March Sr. and Bessie F. (White) in Millersburg, Pa. She was raised there and graduated from Millersburg High School. She moved to Seward in 1958, where she worked as the assistant librarian at the Seward Community Library for the last 21 years. Ms. Welch attended the Church of the Nazarene.
“She loved planting flowers, watching hummingbirds visit the feeders around her home, singing in the church choir, reading new release library books and spending time with family and friends. She is a treasure that will truly be missed,” her family said.
Ms. Welch was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by daughters, Tammy Dudley and her husband, Roy, of Soldotna and Dawn Erdman and her husband, Larry, of Dornsife, Pa.; son, Douglas Welch and his wife, Shawna, of Longview, Wash.; adopted son, John Baker of Soldotna; grandchildren, Jesica and Joshua Erdman of Pennsylvania, Brittany, Levi and Sierra Welch of Washington and Colin Dudley, Lindsay Johnson and her husband, Chad, of Soldotna: brothers, Louie and Fred March of Pennsylvania; sisters, Barb Hartwig, Jan Rumsfeld, June Horst, Adelaide Loftus and Harriet Messner of Pennsylvania; and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made in Doris’ memory to the Seward Community Library, P.O. Box 2389, Seward, AK 99664.
