Soldotna resident Lori R. Prather died Wednesday, May 20, 2009, in Portland, Ore., after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 46.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 6, at the Prather Family Memorial. A gathering will follow the services at the Prather family residence.

Mrs. Prather was born Dec. 7, 1962, in Multnoma County, Ore. She grew up and received her education in Multnoma County, graduating from high school there. She moved to Alaska in 1996 and lived in Soldotna. She worked for Mykel's Restaurant from 2001-07.

Mrs. Prather enjoyed fishing, sewing, helping the homeless and camping.

"Lori was born in Multnoma County, Ore., where she had two sisters and three brothers. As a child, she was very head strong and full of mischief. She soon got her nickname 'Nene,' which mean petite in Sioux language. She also had 'Na-no' added which means keep your hands off of me," her family said.

"She loved her children and family extremely and was always a joy for all her friends and family to be around."

Mrs. Prather was preceded in death by a sister, Angela Blair; brother, Tommy Blair; mother, Ann Blair; and father, Roy Blair.

She is survived by her husband of 26 years, Larry Prather of Soldotna; children, David Prather of Soldotna and Mikel and Sasha Blair of Alaska; sister, Shelly Blair of Portland; and brothers, Forest Blair of Portland and Jiggs Blair.

Memorial donations may be sent to the family at P.O. Box 1351, Sterling, AK 99672.

Arrangements were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel in Kenai.
