Another Crude Awakening?

Posted: Thursday, June 03, 2010

The BP disaster is another wake up call. Alaska feels the pain of the Gulf Coastal communities. We need real, clean energy and climate legislation that ends our dependence on dirty energy.

Senators Mark Begich and Lisa Murkowski, we need you to lead Alaska to a clean energy future. How will you ensure that current oil companies prevent future environmental disasters? The prevention plans in the Gulf are not giving us confidence for drilling in freezing Arctic Alaskan waters. What are the best minds in this industry capable of in correcting corporate behavior and competency?

A full transition to clean energy is the best way to help prevent future disasters. Speak up and let them know you support renewable energies R & D. We need to invest in new energy, not old, poisoning fossil fuels.

Call our senators to go back to Washington and strengthen the current climate legislation, eliminate expansions for offshore drilling and dirty energy giveaways. They need to hear from us.

Currently they are both working to expand non-proven directional drilling in the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge -- a wilderness area set aside from human development -- and support drilling in the Chuchki and Beaufort Seas.
