The Kenai Fine Arts Center, 816 Cook Avenue in Old Town Kenai, will be the place to go for free Saturday Art Connections all summer long, starting Saturday with Artist Trading Card Activities for children and adults from 1 to 3 p.m. Debbie Harris, KPBSD Art Specialist, will introduce the cards and instruct participants as they create their own. The program is asking that the children sign up for a minimum of two classes each. $20.00 per class-per child. Classes are from noon to 2 p.m. Mondays and Fridays for 2nd to 6th graders and Wednesday's classes are for kindergarteners and 1st graders.

The Summer Solstice Music Festival will be June 19 at the Martin's Diamond M Ranch from noon to midnight of music, fun, games, food and activities. Highlighting the day's activities is the Cowchip Triathlon, open to kids and adults of all ages. The swimming event will be held on an above ground pool (40' by 80') and contestants will be seated in inner tubes as they compete on a circular course. A dedicated course inside the cow pasture will host the bike and run legs. The Music Festival has been dedicated to Matti Martin, 2009 Triathlon winner, who was killed at the Ninilchik Fair last year. Entry fee for Triathlon is $20 single, $45 team. Music Festival entry is $5 adults, under 12 free. Triathlon starts at 1 p.m. with ages 10 and under, older races to follow. The Alaska Children's Institute for the Performing Arts will hold two drama camps this summer! The Soldotna Drama Camp will be held June 21 to July 24 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on weekdays at the Triumvirate Theatre in the Peninsula Center Mall. This is a four-week camp for third grade and up. The children in the camp will be putting on a production of Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. Show dates will be July 22, 23 and 24. Late pick-ups and early drop-offs can be accommodated. This year's camp is sponsored by the Kenai Peninsula Foundation. The cost is $390.00 but vouchers from the Connections & Galena programs are accepted. Get $100 off when you register online before midnight May 31!
For children 4 years old - to second grade, there will be a special Drama Camp opportunity! This program will be once per week (Fridays, from noon to 3 p.m.) plus every afternoon from the July 19 to 23. Cost for this program is $100.

The Nikiski Drama Camp will be held June 21 to July 2 from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on weekdays at Nikiski High School. This is a two-week camp for third grade and up. Show date will be July 2.
