3 Nikiski students share high honors
Travis Scott Anderson

Travis was this year's Masonic Out-standing Student at his school. He was born in Michigan and moved to Alaska in 1988. He has attended Nikiski schools since kindergarten and participated in all areas of academics, sports, school plays and student body government. He attends Star of the North Lutheran Church and works at Nikiski's swimming pool as a lifeguard and instructor. Travis plans to attend Montana State University and study criminal psychology. He is the son of Mark and Carrie Anderson and has one brother, Brandon, in the military.
Jessica Arness
Jessica Arness
Jessica was born in Soldotna and has lived in Nikiski ever since. During high school, she participated in volleyball, basketball and track. This year she was president of the National Honor Society and senior class treasurer. She is the daughter of Barb and Jim Arness. Jessica plans to attend Southern Oregon University in the fall to study occupational therapy.
Seth Tauriainen
Seth Tauriainen
Seth was born and raised in Nikiski on his grandfather's homestead. He is the son of Carl and Ruth Tauriainen. Every summer since the age of 10, Seth has worked on his parent's commercial fishing boat. At school, he has been involved in school sports, including football, hockey and soccer, since his freshman year. He is a member of the National Honor Society and plans to attend the University of Oregon in the fall to major in physics.
