Homer High's valedictorians

Lindsay Babcock

Lindsay Babcock

Throughout high school Lindsay has been active in various sports. She volunteered in the Long Term Care unit at South Peninsula Hospital and helped coach volleyball for Chapman and West Homer Elementary schools. She plans to attend college at Northwest Nazarene University or Grand Valley State in Michigan. Her goal is to become a nurse practitioner. She lives in Anchor Point with her parents, Barbara and Lyle Dahl.

Matthew Beaumont-Gay

Matthew Beaumont-Gay

Matthew was born in Homer and has lived there all his life. He was on the HHS swim team for four years, earning a varsity letter for three. Teammates elected him co-captain for the 2000 season. He has been accepted to Harvey Mudd College in Claremont, Calif. He plans on majoring in computer science, as computers are one of his main interests. His parents are Joel Gay and Mary Beaumont.

Evangelia "Lia" Sloth

Lia was born in Homer to Eric and Stephanie Sloth and has lived there ever since. After graduation she plans to work at the Homer Tribune, then head to Seattle Pacific University in September. During her high school years she thrived on basketball, cheerleading, diving, student council, music, her loving family's support and, she said, most importantly her faith in God.

Joy Epley

Joy Epley

Joy is the daughter of Bryan and Wilma Epley and has lived in Anchor Point all of her life. She was a member of the Mariner basketball and volleyball teams for all four years of high school. She is president of the Anchor Point Nazarene Church youth group and received the President's Scholarship from Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, Idaho. Joy plans to get a degree in English education to use in mission work.

Erin Pate

Erin Pate

Erin is the daughter of Mike and Kathy Pate. She has a 4. 0 average and is the senior class president and National Honor Society vice president. Her activities include swimming and track for the Mariners, and she has attended state competitions in both all four years. She was Region III champ in the 100-yard backstroke and the triple jump. She enjoys swimming, photography, kayaking, reading and time with family and friends. Next year she will attend Santa Clara University in California, where she has received a dean's scholarship.
