NOME (AP) -- Three boaters reported missing in Norton Sound Sunday evening were found alive and in good condition late Monday.
Allyn Ladd of Unalakleet and Scott and Cori Dunavin of Nome were spotted late Monday in a marshy area just east of Dexter Point in Norton Bay, about 100 miles east of Nome.
The three had set out in a 19 foot boat Saturday evening, bound for Unalakleet. When they failed to arrive by Sunday evening a search was launched.
The Coast Guard sent up a C-130 and a helicopter to comb the shoreline. The Civil Air Patrol and a local air taxi service assisted in the search.
The boaters were eventually spotted by a state Fish and Wildlife Trooper late Monday. They had run out of fuel.
Troopers were hauling fuel to the boaters so they could continue on to Unalakleet.
