North Peninsula chamber to meet

The North Peninsula Chamber of Commerce will meet at noon Thursday at the North Kenai Baptist Church. Attorney Peter Ehrhard, will give his views on the Exxon Valdez oil spill and its effects to date. For more information, call Fred at 776-3257.

Indian education advisory meeting set for Thursday

The Kenai Peninsula Borough School District has scheduled a Title VII, Indian Education Parent Advisory Committee meeting at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Borough Building, in conference room B. Parents and other interested parties are invited. Participants are asked to R.S.V.P. at 262-9805, ext. 249.

CPGH holds blood drive

Central Peninsula General Hospital will sponsor a blood drive from noon to 4 p.m. Friday in the Borealis room at the hospital.

Motorcycle rally planned

The Goldwing Road Riders Association is sponsoring a family friendly motorcycle rally, parade and precision riding demonstration at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the Borough Building.

The parade will feature riders from Alaska, Canada and the Lower 48.

Registration begins for soccer-basketball camps

North Kenai Baptist Church is registering first- through eighth-graders for its Soccer-Basketball Combo Camp. Tennessee college athletes will instruct.

Both camps begin Monday and run through June 11. Soccer camp will run from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Nikiski pool fields; basketball camp will be from noon to 3 p.m. at the Nikiski Elementary gym.

Fees are $5 for soccer, $5 for basketball or $10 for both. Registration forms can be picked up at the Nikiski pool and North Kenai Baptist Church. For more information call Rachel at 776-8800 or Denver at 776-8234.

Homer immunization clinics offered through June

The Homer Public Health Center will offer immunizations from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday during June only at the Homer Public Health Clinic. Walk-ins are welcome. For more information, call the health clinic at (907) 235-8857 or (800) 770-8857.

NPRSA holds summer day camp

The North Peninsula Recreation Service Area is offering summer day camp for first through sixth grades from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays through July 31 at Nikiski Elementary School. Various activities will be offered each day, including arts and crafts, gym games, water activities, cooking, climbing and pottery. No preregistration required. Business center sponsors marketing workshop

The Small Business Development Center is sponsoring a workshop, "Get out of the Box-Marketing." It will cover creative and inexpensive marking techniques. The workshop begins at 1 p.m. June 11 in suite 16 in the Red Diamond Center on Kalifornsky Beach Road. There is a $15 fee. Preregistration of at least one day is required. Homer Chamber of Commerce retail committee to meet

The Homer Chamber of Commerce retail committee will meet at 8:30 a.m. June 13 in the conference room at the chamber's office. Chamber members and interested retailers are invited. Golf tournament to benefit Boys and Girls Club

The Kenai Boys and Girls Club will hold its 12th annual golf classic, sponsored by Agrium, June 20 at the Kenai Golf Course. Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m., with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. There is $150 entrance fee for individuals or a $500 fee for a team of four players to enter. Fees for sponsoring a hole will be $250 and team-hole sponsors are available for $500 to $700. Participants will enjoy a continental breakfast, barbecue lunch, free beverages and have a chance at winning fabulous prizes.
